For those looking for an extra helping of dharma on their dash:
CIVL/LEGAL UNIONS and MARRIAGE:
Marriage should not be a term used for legal unions regardless if the couple in question is straight, gay, transgender etc.. Everyone should have access to the same legal union and the rights that go along with it. Marriage, since it is a Biblical term, should only be used by churches and those people (whether gay or straight etc…) who choose to have their union solemnified by a church. There are some churches that don’t believe in gay marriage. Fine. There are some churches that do approve of gay, transgender etc.. marriages. Fine. We have different religions and freedom of religion for a reason. Leave the term marriage to religion and the legal aspects of the contract/union to the legal system/government. *Side note: wouldn’t this also make everything more fair for atheists? If they don’t believe in God, but are required to have a “marriage” contract or licence, if they want a legally recognized union, then doesn’t that infringe on their rights to have a union without any religious overtones simply by the very term “marriage”?
I don’t believe in abortion, but this is a free country and you can do what you want, BUT don’t force me to have a hand in paying for abortions in any way, shape, or form…not through healthcare, taxes, or any other means. I live my life by my beliefs and you should be able to live life by yours. RESPECT my beliefs and don’t force me to be an unwilling participant to something I am morally against.
